BACP members have a contractual commitment to work in accordance with the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions 2026.
These legal resources are not contractually binding but are intended to support practitioners by providing general information on principles and policy applicable at the time of publication, in the context of the core ethical principles, values and personal moral qualities of BACP. They should not be used as legal advice for specific cases or to resolve legal issues arising in practice.
The legal resources are currently being reviewed and refreshed. While they remain available in their existing Good Practice in Action (GPiA) format, updated versions will be published in the new legal resources design as they're completed. Additional legal resources are also being developed and will be released in due course.
