Time: 12.30 to 1.45 pm

Topic: The importance of reflexivity in leadership; dialogic spaces and mentoring

Leadership in student support can carry a weight that we often don't talk about: decisions making stress, distress absorbed from others, blame for things beyond our control. This bespoke session asks what we do with that experience, and who we do it with.
In the first half, Kirsty Hutchinson draws on some recent research on leadership pain and how we heal this. We’ll consider what this looks and feels like for heads of service, and where the spaces for honest reflection exist and where they are missing.

In the second half, Rafiya Hanid moves the conversation into practice, exploring how HUCS mentoring can provide the conditions reflexive dialogue needs, and what a mentoring offer for members might look like.

This is an interactive session, please come along ready to reflect and offer your thoughts.
