Topic: Reframing the Therapeutic Relationship in the context of Neurodivergence

We as therapists all know how important therapeutic relationship is for clients in order to feel that therapy was successful. Therapeutic alliance is considered as the foundation of any therapeutic work, and therapeutic bond as one element of this alliance.

However, ‘relating’ and ‘bond’ takes a different shape and meaning for the neurodivergent population, and the idea of therapeutic alliance therefore needs reconsidering. In this session we will attempt to bring the experience of a neurodivergent client closer to the therapist - you, so that relating can be inclusive of this population rather than applicable only to the neurotypical clients.

Parking is limited at the venue so please allow time to find a space, as surrounding streets are permit only. Also please be mindful of the address and post code as there are two Friends Meeting Houses in Cambridge.

Location: Quaker Meeting House, 91-93 Hartington Grove, Cambridge, CB1 7UB

Facilitator: Jane Philips
