We're calling on counselling clients, therapists and services to contribute to a new review that aims to improve health services in Northern Ireland.
This is our health, launched by Health Minister Mike Nesbitt MLA, involves public events and discussions to give people across Northern Ireland the opportunity to shape the future of health and social care, including mental health services.
The initiative will establish a new 'health and care deal' for Northern Ireland which aims to develop a more sustainable, responsive and effective health and social care system.
We'll be talking directly to Health Minister Nesbitt about key role counselling and psychotherapy must have in this reformed health model.
We're also discussing the review with our members in Northern Ireland at our Making Connections Derry-Londonderry 2026 event on June 10.
Steve Mulligan, our Four Nations Lead said: "This is an important opportunity to help promote and champion the incredible contribution that counsellors are making and to ensure we are seen as a key part of a more responsive and effective health system.
"We encourage our members, counselling services and people who have benefitted from counselling to take part in these vital discussions about the future of health provision in Northern Ireland."
The Department of Health is holding a series of public events across Northern Ireland during the summer to give people opportunities to join the discussion.
There's also a short online questionnaire to establish which aspects of the healthcare system matter most to people and communities across Northern Ireland.
Find out more and fill in questionnaire at the This is our health website.
The survey closes on 31 July 2026.
