What’s your role at BACP?
I'm the Member Engagement Lead for Your voice, your BACP, leading BACP’s organisation wide Member Engagement Programme. My role is to help ensure member insight doesn’t just get heard, it shapes how we design services, make decisions and improve the overall member experience.
What did you do before this role?
Before leading Your voice, your BACP, I was Communities Lead at BACP, where I established and grew our Communities of Practice discussion forum, expanded our network meetings and strengthened our 7 Divisional Committees. My professional background is in operational leadership, process improvement and community development, giving me a strong foundation in stakeholder engagement, partnership working and organisational change.
What achievements are you most proud of at BACP?
I’m proud to have helped build stronger opportunities for members to connect through our Communities of Practice discussion forum, our network meetings and Divisional Committees. More recently, leading the development of Your voice, your BACP and bringing together insight from members across the UK, helping to shape a new approach to member engagement that is now moving into implementation across the organisation.
What’s Your voice, your BACP all about?
Your voice, your BACP is helping BACP become a more member led organisation. We've spent the past year listening to thousands of members to understand what matters the most to them. We're now working with colleagues across BACP to turn those insights into practical improvements, embedding member engagement into everyday decision making and making it easier for members to see the difference their feedback makes.
What motivates you in your work?
I believe people are far more likely to engage when they know their voice genuinely makes a difference. I’m passionate about transparency, accessibility and creating meaningful opportunities for members to influence what happens next. Seeing insight turn into action is what motivates me most
How are you making engagement more inclusive?
No two members engage in the same way. We're creating a range of opportunities, from surveys and focus groups, to workshops, events, communities and ongoing conversations, so members can contribute in ways that work for them, wherever they are in their career or location.
What's your vision for the future?
I want member engagement to become part of how BACP works every day, not something delivered through individual projects. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that BACP already has lots of valuable engagement happening across the organisation. The opportunity now is to bring that together, make it more visible and ensure that member insight consistently informs decisions.
Success will be when members can clearly see how their feedback has shaped change and that it is routinely used to improve services, communications and priorities.
