About me and my therapy practice

My name is Ama, the founder and managing director of JASD Wellbeing Services. JASD Wellbeing Services is a private practice providing mental health support services for children, young people and adults. Wellbeing services include counselling, play therapy, mentoring, consultations and workshops. Most of our services at present would be online and face-to-face support could be discussed as a possible option.

I am an integrative counsellor/therapist using various forms of therapy and theory to elevate the mental health needs of others. This can include person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic, solution focussed, play therapy, gestalt, existentialism, and attachment theory. They can all can be applied as and when to suit the individual needs of the client, including whether to use play therapy, talking therapy or body movement/sports work. All of which has been carried out in school settings, remotely/online, counselling rooms or by telephone. 

Counselling or mentoring support can be short term at 6 sessions or 14 plus as longer-term work. Session lengths are 45 minutes - 1 hour for one to one and for group sessions, they are 1 hour- 1 hour 30 minutes. Group work can include 2-4 people and if more than 4 this will have to be discussed and deemed appropriate. 


Practice description

I specialise in supporting clients with anxiety, depression, school/career transitions, academic/work stress, self-esteem, anger, race/identity, domestic abuse/violence, relationship breakdowns and behaviour difficulties. My varied counselling experience also includes supporting clients with suicidal ideation, self-harm, trauma, bereavement, sexism, bullying, divorce/separation, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, selective mutism, social-emotional mental health needs, Looked after children, housing difficulties, sleep issues, eating difficulties, body image, identity, autism, attention deficit disorder and health conditions.

All forms of support will help you achieve self-empowerment and mental wealth. You are of powerful value and purpose, deserving of a space to heal and grow. JASD Wellbeing Services can be that space both remotely/online and face to face.

The costs of our wellbeing services can be discussed following your enquiry or referral. For low-income individuals or families concession rates of sessions can be discussed. The session rate can also be renegotiated if financial circumstances change. We aim to both meet your needs and adapt to possible shifts in your needs.

My first session

An assessment in the form of an open conversation (creative work also as an option if willing) and exploration of needs, background and aims/goals of the client. My counselling work being explained and linked to the presented issue in terms of how we could work together to better manage/overcome that difficulty.  Establishing an agreement together covering confidentiality, safeguarding and information sharing referring back to forms that would've been read and signed beforehand.
