About me and my therapy practice

Something isn't right. You're not sure how to explain it, and you're tired of trying. From the outside your life looks fine — maybe even good. But there's a persistent feeling that won't shift, no matter how well you understand yourself.

That gap — between knowing and actually changing — is exactly where therapy does its best work.

I work integratively, which means I don't apply a single fixed approach to everyone. I draw on different therapeutic models depending on what you actually need, and I adjust as the work develops. What stays consistent is the pace and the focus — steady, honest, and always oriented towards what actually needs to shift, not just what needs to be talked about.

Some people come with a clear sense of what they want to change. Others arrive knowing something isn't right but not yet sure what. Both are valid starting points.

I offer a free 20-minute initial chat before we begin, so you can get a sense of how I work and whether it feels like the right fit.

Practice description

I work with adults one-to-one, online or by phone. Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly, though the frequency can be adjusted when it makes sense to do so.

The work is focused and collaborative. I don't have a fixed agenda for what therapy should look like — the direction comes from what matters most to you, and that shifts over time. My role is to keep the process honest, steady, and moving forward rather than circling the same ground indefinitely.

I hold a current enhanced DBS check and work in full accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

My first session

Before the first full session, I offer a free 20-minute informal chat. This isn't therapy — it's a straightforward conversation about what's bringing you to therapy, how I work, and whether it feels like the right fit. There's no obligation on either side.

The first session itself is a mix of practical groundwork and beginning to understand what's going on for you. We cover the basics — confidentiality, boundaries, how the process works — briefly and clearly, so that from the second session onwards we can focus entirely on the work.

Some clients arrive with a clear sense of what they want to address. Others come knowing something needs to change but not yet sure what. Either way, we start from where you actually are, not where you think you should be.

About me and my therapy practice

Many LGBTQIA+ clients come to therapy having spent years explaining themselves — to family, to colleagues, to partners, sometimes to previous therapists. That gets exhausting. In our work together, you won't need to start from scratch or justify who you are. I'm familiar with the landscape: identity and coming out at any life stage, internalised shame, family rejection, the complexity of relationships that don't fit conventional templates, minority stress, and the particular exhaustion of moving through a world that wasn't entirely built with you in mind.

I work integratively, which means I don't apply a single fixed approach to everyone. I draw on different therapeutic models depending on what you actually need, and I adjust as the work develops. Some people come with a clear sense of what they want to change. Others arrive knowing something isn't right but not yet sure what. Both are valid starting points.

For LGBTQIA+ clients specifically, I understand that good therapy isn't just about a non-judgmental attitude — it's about not having to explain the basics. Whether you're navigating something directly related to identity or something that has nothing to do with it, you won't be treated as a case study or an education opportunity. The work is about you, not about me catching up.

I hold a current enhanced DBS check and work in full accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

The pace is yours. There's no pressure to disclose more than you're ready to, and no assumption that I already know your story because I've worked with LGBTQIA+ clients before. Your experience is yours — we start from there.
