About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes it can be difficult to talk to family or friends about how you really feel, and you just need someone to talk to who is able to take their time to listen to you, without judgment.

You may have experienced difficult, upsetting or traumatic life events, developed a health condition or disability, or maybe you just feel low or anxious and you’re not really sure why. Whatever your situation, some experiences and worries can create difficult emotions such as guilt, sadness, confusion, anger and low self-esteem, which I can help you to manage during our therapy work together.

I use a person-centred approach as the basis of my counselling work which can help you to make sense of your previous life experiences and current circumstances. I will support you in developing your own solutions to your personal difficulties and help you to re-build a sense of who you are and how you would like to live your life.

Our working relationship will form an integral part of the therapeutic process with the sessions moving at your pace, in a safe environment, free from judgment.

Practice description

As we are all unique my belief is that one specific type of therapy doesn't work for everyone, so in addition to the person-centred approach I also use solution focused, positive psychology and mindfulness based techniques when suitable.

Solution focused therapy is useful if you wish to have short term therapy and you already have an idea about your preferred future but maybe need some help in getting there.

Positive psychology encourages you to accept yourself by living authentically and to focus on your strengths, which can then lead to emotional resilience and personal growth.

Mindfulness can increase your awareness of your thoughts and feelings, which can help you to recognise how you react to certain situations allowing us to explore those feelings further.

If you have any further questions, would like to have a no-obligation chat to discuss your situation or to book in a session with me, then please get in touch by phone, text or email.

I look forward to hearing from you.
