About me and my therapy practice
You may appear to be coping on the surface. You keep up with work, relationships, and expectations, and from the outside things can look fine.
But internally, you may be dealing with burnout, anxiety, stress, or a sense of emotional disconnection. You may feel flat, drained, or as though you are moving through life without fully being in it.
Over time, things that once felt manageable can begin to take more effort. You may find yourself withdrawing, becoming more irritable, or feeling less like yourself without fully understanding why.
I work with adults experiencing:
- Burnout and long-term overwhelm
- Anxiety that does not switch off, or a low mood that lingers
- Chronic stress showing as tension, irritability, or exhaustion
- Emotional disconnection or numbness
- Loss of identity, direction, or meaning
- Finding yourself on the edge of certain groups or environments
- Repeating patterns in relationships that feel difficult to shift
- People-pleasing, perfectionism, or hidden overwhelm
- A sense that something is missing, even when life looks “fine”
I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist. My work is grounded in taking your experience seriously, rather than trying to move past it or manage it quickly.
In our sessions, we focus on what is happening and stay with it, so it can be understood more fully rather than being managed or pushed aside. This includes noticing patterns in how you think, respond, and relate, and making sense of them over time.
There is no expectation to arrive with clarity or a plan. We begin with what is present, and work at a pace that feels right for you.

I offer online counselling and psychotherapy across the UK for adults who are finding things harder to carry than they used to.
I’m Esther Dietrichsen-Farley, a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, and founder of The Farley. My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, with additional training in trauma-informed and relational approaches.
In our sessions, there is no expectation to arrive with clarity or a plan. We take time to understand what has been building beneath the surface and how it has shaped the way you feel, relate, and move through life.
Working online offers a consistent, private space to talk, from wherever you are.
