About me and my therapy practice

As an experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor I offer a warm, honest, caring and personal approach. I believe connecting with each other and building a strong, collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for our work together.

As my client, I will invest in you, taking care, attention and time to get to know you as we explore at depth what it means to be you, taking into consideration where you may feel stuck and what you may be avoiding.

My integrative training allows me to draw on my varied professional knowledge, and work flexibly, tailoring therapy to your individual needs. I have experience of working with a range of clients and extensive knowledge in working with loss and bereavement.

I am committed to nurturing self-awareness and self-worth and will support you in fostering a compassionate relationship with yourself. Working from my relaxed, comfortable and private therapy room, I offer a space where you will be heard, understood and where, together we will endeavour to find a way forward.

Please email or call if you would like to arrange an introductory phone call or face to face meet to see if we can work together.

Practice description

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I adhere to their Ethical Framework and Code of Good Practice, so you can be sure you'll be treated with respect and acceptance in a safe, trusting and caring environment.

I believe professional and personal growth should be ongoing. As a member of the BACP, I am committed to continuing professional development and regularly engage with courses and reading to consolidate and advance my knowledge base.

I have accomplished advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a form of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapy, and frequently include aspects of this in my client work. I have attended workshops on guided imagery visualisation and completed a Mindfulness course. I am also ASIST trained in Suicide Intervention.

Before becoming a counsellor I qualified as a Complementary Therapist and graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Professional Practice (Healthcare Studies). This further informs my holistic approach towards clients, often incorporating mindfulness and breathing techniques (where appropriate).

As well as my private practice I have worked as a counsellor for both a housing association and as part of the multi-disciplinary team within a non-bedded hospice. My approach is always relational and collaborative.

I practise from my private therapy room, within Barry Therapy Centre, working face to face with individuals 18+
