About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in supporting people with Anxiety, Relationship issues, Depression and Self Esteem and Confidence Building. Most importantly, to understand and manage your own system using Internal Family systems therapy.
I am a Senior Counsellor with over 25 years of Clinical experience - working to support people with all sorts of issues, of different ages, backgrounds and from different walks of life... I particular specialise in supporting people with Anxiety, Depression, Self-Esteem and Relationship issues.
My intention would be to help you through what may be a difficult time in your life, to help you manage life better, feel more resourced and to increase your self confidence and clarity so you can move forwards.
You may be struggling with a particular problem or that you've been feeling - lonely, sad, depressed, anxious, panicky, overwhelmed, flat, or perhaps frustrated or irritable a lot of the time.
It may be a relationship that’s failing or that you are recognising the same patterns playing out in your life. It’s possible you’ve tried coping on your own and talked to family and friends for support but you still feel stuck and distressed.
Counselling allows you to build up your self-awareness. To identify what is going on for you and to help you clarify the changes you want to make in your life and to find a way to make positive changes both externally and in your relationship to yourself...
Change is possible and it's positive to recognise and take time in therapy to get clear and be supported in how to move forwards...
Practice description
I am working Online currently.
I offer a warm, authentic relationship in which we talk together about the issues you're facing currently and together talk through strategies and choices for change going forwards.
Over the years I have had numerous professional trainings in different therapeutic models so I work with a broad range of approaches - including Psychodynamic therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Internal Family Systems, Solution Focussed techniques, Compassion Focussed therapy and Life Coaching etc, however my core training is in Psychosynthesis - an approach acknowledging the distress and pain of your current struggles but which also holds a wider perspective… What is going on here? Why is this happening? What is trying to grow or needs changing? What do I need to let go of here?...
Therefore, what is troubling you currently, may be the very thing that can lead to a positive change, psychological growth and personal fulfilment.
In therapy we can sometimes reflect on the past in order to make sense of your experiences today. Understanding how your potential could be held back through your past conditioning and what you may need to let go of or to reclaim to be happier... The reason for spending some time talking about the past is to begin to make sense of why and what you may be still holding or what you had learned from your history. In having clarity around this you can feel a sense of awareness that can change your pathway forwards...
However, the focus of our therapy sessions will really be with where you are now and where and how you want to be going forwards...
I offer a warm and empathic listening ear to support you towards something new. Together we can talk about practical ways to help you so you can live a more fulfilling, happier life - functioning in the way you want to be operating.
My first session
I offer a relational, interactive conversation where you will be heard and engaged with on the issues you are bringing for clarity and change.
It is always best to take an initial session to see if you feel an alliance is going to be possible for you between us. An initial session is a good place to see if there might be fit for you and discuss your clinical aims and the best way forwards
