About me and my therapy practice

Feeling a bit lost, stuck, confused and unhappy but you're not sure why? Struggling with work, relationships or not coping with what life throws at you?  Perhaps you've lost someone or something very important to you and you’re not sure how to make sense of it, how to adjust, or where you fit in the world? 

Maybe you’re just not sure why you’re feeling or behaving the way you are at the moment, but you do know that it's something you’d like to understand and to change.

Working with a Counsellor can really help you to unravel these types of feelings, thoughts and uncertainties. It can offer you new awareness of how you’re living life now, and new perspectives on how you see your future. Counselling can bring you deeper self-awareness and help you to grow a healthy relationship with yourself, as well as with others.

I'm passionate about supporting clients to find their voice, express their uniqueness. I'm warm, respectful and offer a safe, positive environment for you to be yourself and to be heard. I will help you to explore and challenge your thinking and feelings, in support of you finding ways of moving forward that work for you. My hope is that you will get to know yourself better, feel happier and more ready and confident to make change for your future.

Practice description

My Background

My client work has been mainly in a NHS setting from GP referrals, working with a wide age range of clients, of all backgrounds, supporting them with difficult life events and transitions. I have particular experience in working with bereavement and loss, including prolonged grief and bereavement by suicide. I have also worked with clients with life-limiting and chronic illness. I can help with feelings of low self-esteem, low mood, grief, anxiety and depression. 

Before training as a counsellor, I built 20 years’ experience working predominantly in People and Development roles in business, supporting people with stress, overwhelm, work-related issues, low confidence and personal development challenges.

When not in private practice, I volunteer at a Manchester-based NHS Macmillan Centre, working with clients of all ages affected by cancer.

I have a special interest in the impact of bereavement on family relationships and dynamics, particularly sibling bereavement.


I'm fully qualified with A Postgraduate Diploma (PG DiP), Counselling & Psychotherapy, Salford University.  

As a registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I work to their ethical framework to keep us both safe.

Client confidentiality and the protection of your data is very important to me. I commit to handling your data with care and  in accordance with GDPR requirements. I can explain more about this in our first meeting.

My first session

Contacting counsellors and arranging a first meeting can feel like a huge step, so it’s important to feel at ease with a counsellor and with the process.

You are welcome to call me for;

A free 20 minute confidential telephone consultation - I can answer any questions you have about how I work and whether I can help with what's on your mind. 

A 50 minute confidential first session at a reduced fee of £25 - This is an opportunity to take more time to talk about what brings you to counselling and what you are hoping to get from it. It will also help us to understand how we might work together. We'll have plenty of time to discuss any further questions in a relaxed environment.

If you are happy to meet face to face, my therapy room is a large space which allows for good social distancing, with Covid safety measures in place. 

I completely understand if you prefer to meet online if it feels safer for you. We can discuss options when we arrange your first  session.

If I can’t pick up your call, please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as I possibly can. I check emails throughout the day and can usually respond within 24 hours.
