I offer daytime and evening therapy sessions on week days.About me and my therapy practice
Whatever you’re facing, you don't need to do it alone; no-one is an island and finding the right help can make all the difference. I'm an accredited BACP therapist and clinical supervisor. Working together, I'll be committed to helping you find a way through, guided by what you want, what works best for you and the pace that suits you. I have thirty years' experience supporting people to work with emotional pain and uncertainty; to recognise choices and increase their resilience.
I've helped many clients find effective ways to manage debilitating anxiety about themselves, the world and the future. This can be life-changing if you're living with anxiety, panic or stress. I work a lot with clients wanting to improve their self-esteem and relationships. I also specialise in helping people develop coping strategies and improve emotional regulation. I witness with my clients the power of working together towards acceptance, change, understanding or whatever it is they need.
I work with people going through challenges including: anxiety; BPD/EUPD; relationship issues; compulsive eating; trauma; depression; ADHD; autism; bereavement; health problems; identity issues; stress; and addiction. This list is not exhaustive: I work with people, whatever they bring, and I've worked with too many issues and experiences to list here.
I offer compassion-focused (CFT), ACT, person-centred and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approaches. I'm certified (by BIDBT) at enhanced level to deliver DBT skills training to individuals and groups. I have lots of experience working with people living with BPD/EUPD and with other mental health issues.
I'm trained by Bangor University as a mindfulness teacher and run courses on anxiety, eating issues and stress/resilience. I previously worked for NHS Public Health where I wrote a sex and relationships programme that won the GP Practice Award.
If you're interested in working together, please get in touch to arrange an initial call or session.
Practice description
I provide psychological therapy to adults and young people over 18.
I'm currently offering counselling sessions online and by telephone, through the day and in the evenings on weekdays.
I offer a sliding session fee scale of £60-£65 for private therapy.
My standard fee is £65. My concessionary rate of £60 is for anyone with financial constraints/lower income. If you need to pay the lower rate, just let me know.
My rate for local authority commissioned therapy work is £70 per session.
My first session
I offer the option of a 15 minute initial phone chat to discuss practical arrangements and get a sense of what it would be like to work together. The initial call is free and optional and can be set up at a time that works for you.
At the point of booking an initial assessment session, I send you my therapy agreement which includes practical details and outlines areas (e.g. confidentiality) related to therapy.
An initial session helps to assess whether we're a good fit to work together and if you'd like to book further sessions. Initial sessions last fifty minutes and this is also my standard session time. Longer sessions are possible with prior arrangement.
Initial sessions can be more or less structured, depending on what you need and prefer. At the end we'll have time to review how you've found it and you can either decide in the session or after it if you'd like to book further sessions together.
Appointments are usually weekly and I offer fortnightly sessions if this suits you better for practical or financial reasons. Evidence suggests that weekly sessions can be more effective. However, it depends what you want and need from therapy and many of my clients have valued the support of long-term fortnightly sessions.
