About me and my therapy practice
I am Kathryn, a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I am also a certified coach accredited by Cambridge University. I understand from experience how much courage it can take to seek support when life gets difficult and that the cost can be daunting and often prohibitive. My standard session rate is £40 (£30 for young people) with slots available with concessionary rates. It is important to me that counselling is as accessible and affordable as possible and I am always happy to discuss fees. I offer short and long term therapy.
I work online via zoom as well as by telephone and face to face in central Solihull (B91) in line with guidance to protect against the spread of Covid 19. I have trained with Relate and offer private couples therapy. I also work with adolescents from 12 years as well as with adults. I am passionate about helping people grow their sense of self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence. My main work is helping people work through anxiety, depression, stress, issues from childhood, relationship breakdown and recovery.
I listen but I don't just listen! I am also available to teach principles, skills and strategies which can help not only with current situations and which can also last a lifetime.
I offer free resources for you to work on in-between sessions as well as via Facebook and Instagram #taketimecounselling.
In addition to working in private practice I volunteer my time working for charities as a bereavement counsellor, addiction recovery counsellor and a schools counsellor.
My main work as a counsellor is with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship breakdown and recovery. I have extensive training in other areas and I am happy to talk with you and discuss your needs.

My first session
In your first session we will review your hopes, goals and expectations for counselling, along with any previous experiences, concerns and questions you might have.
It is important that you are able to develop a relationship of trust with your counsellor and our first session is designed to help you decide if I am the right person for you.
My own personal experience of therapy is that whilst listening is very important many clients want and need more than just to talk. I therefore offer a confidential space for you to discuss anything you need to process as well as offering resources which will help you to make changes in areas of your life which are not working for you. I offer principles, strategies and skills which can help you to grow in your understanding of yourself and others. I can offer guidance to work through current situations in a way which will also translate to a broader application for you life in general.
I am happy to offer free resources to support you between sessions and which are tailored to your specific needs and goals.
