About me and my therapy practice

I am a Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) and an EMDR therapist. Accredited member of the BACP and Accredited with the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapists, and a member of the EMDR association. I have over 13 years experience as a therapist, and further experience working within a wide range of services.

Previous employment includes: CAT Therapist in the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT's), as a CBT Therapist and Counsellor in the NHS Talking Therapies Service, Counsellor at Maggie's Cancer Charity, and as the School Counsellor for John Cabot Academy, Kingswood.

My approach is open, warm and professional, providing a safe and confidential environment for the people I work with. I deeply value the counselling process and relationship as unique to each individual. Coming to therapy to explore, understand, and work through anything that may be troubling, whether that is your past, present or both, can be difficult to do. Working together, I will use my extensive training and experience, to help you through the difficulties you are facing.

My approach will depend on your needs and your goals. I will be thoughtful about your experiences and respectful to your wishes.  I have extensive experience when working with a range of complex histories and problems. Working within the NHS and other settings for more than 15 years, I have a proven record of helping many people to see past what may be troubling them, in a way that they can feel in control and gain a new insight and understanding to what may be going on for them.

Practice description

I work in a way that will best suit your needs and goals, and this will be agreed between us.

I draw upon all of the experience, training and knowledge I have, and offer a wide range of ways of working towards what you'd like to achieve.

Although CAT Therapy is planned at 16 sessions, this can flexible.

If working with EMDR, we shall discuss this approach in detail as time limits are difficult due to the nature of processing the past events that continue within us today.

I am an open and collaborative therapist, and believe in joint working to reach your aims, encouraging questions and exploration of what may be more suited to your style of working.
