About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I'm Rubia.
As a practitioner, I am warm, compassionate and neurodiversity aware, allowing for the qualities and unexplored aspects of my young and adult clients to emerge and be validated.
I offer a safe, collaborative, non-judgemental and creative space, where you can talk openly and practice new ways of being. I believe people have the answers to their own wellbeing but sometimes it is difficult to appreciate this, especially when life becomes overwhelming.
My work is supervised and my trainings include a significant number of certificates, including Trauma, ASD, Suicide and Self - harm, Internet addiction and Cybersex, Mindfulness and Equine Assisted Therapy - I'm passionate about learning!
People of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and spiritual traditions are welcomed into therapeutic connection with me. Together, we can explore the wounds of the past, hurtful thoughts, actions, decisions and current life stressors inhibiting the ability to accept yourself with compassion.
I work with a wide range of issues. These include relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, functional living with mental health issues, bereavement, workplace-related stress, low self-esteem, self-harm and many more.
My areas of experience include:
- Counselling the Neurodivergent - Autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia; (verbal and non verbal)
- Counselling young people and adults with complex health needs and disabilities
- Bereavement Counselling;
- Multicultural Counselling;
- School Counselling.
Common issues that my neurodivergent clients bring to therapy include emotional burnout, sensory overwhelm, social anxiety, frustration, relationship struggles, family and work issues, gender identity and sexuality.
Making changes can be challenging. Guided support can help navigate the obstacles. Let's figure it out together.
