About me and my therapy practice
Most of us struggle with life at times. Situations and people can challenge us and the feeling of being alone or not knowing where to turn can be overwhelming. When you can no longer see joy in the world you may need some help finding yourself again. I will listen and be beside you as together we explore your world and look at the challenges you are facing.
I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist, and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I work mainly with Adults, Teenagers and Couples.
My career started helping those with addiction and complex mental health challenges. This provided an exceptional foundation for so many other areas including bereavement and trauma. I now have experience of working in most of the areas that challenge us and follow an integrative approach to therapy that is tailored to the individual.
I was pleased to be approached by the Police Firearms Officers Association, who asked me to become an approved counsellor for them and as such, have carried out work on their behalf.
I am a Humanistic Therapist, and I believe that each person is unique so therapy is adapted to meet each persons individual needs. This also allows for therapy to be long or short term depending on requirements, and this we will review together.
I believe that the challenges that life now brings can take us to the limits of our coping abilities. We have seen many increases in stress, anxiety, depression, and psychosis which all can be seen as attempts by our mind and bodies to deal with the difficulties we face. Therapy helps by asking 'why is this happening for you' and 'what do you need' . By exploring your world we can find the root of your distress and look for ways to move towards to a life that is not shackled by doubt and concern.
I am aware of the amount of people that suffer from PTSD due to trauma. I became proficient in Rewind Therapy in order to help those that are trapped by traumatic incidents. This therapy takes one session and is free to veterans, so if thats you please do get in contact
My first session
A therapist must be someone you feel confident will do their utmost to see your world . Someone who will hear your words without judgement or analysis. This is why I offer a free initial consultation, without obligation, so that you can decide if you feel I am the right therapist for you.
Some prefer therapy that offers structure and others prefer creative and less rigid ways of working. The therapy I offer meets the needs of the individual who can decide the way forward
