About me and my therapy practice
I run an online practice (using Zoom), working with people over 18 whose relationship with food gets in the way of living a fulfilled life. I specialise in eating disorders; specifically ~ bulimia, binge eating disorder and atypical anorexia. I’m warm and validating and offer a safe and confidential space in which we work together to help you along your path towards psychological and physical wellbeing. As a side note, I made a full recovery from bulimia, which seemed impossible to me at the time.
If you have symptoms of binge eating, bulimia or atypical anorexia, my aim is to support you in overcoming these stressful symptoms that negatively impact your health and wellbeing and stop you from living the life you deserve. I offer emotional exploration and practical guidance to help you to improve your relationship with food and with yourself, improve your body image and self-esteem, and move past your symptoms toward your life aspirations.
Practice description
I integrate various therapeutic approaches, where I aim to help you explore your issues, emotions and beliefs, and gain insight and autonomy, so you can work towards managing both present and future challenges independently. I also aim to support you in challenging any negative, habitual, or irrational thoughts and beliefs you may have.
I offer weekly one-to-one sessions, where we explore the psychological and physiological processes currently occurring for you, as well as the vital steps you can take on your individual journey towards wellness and wellbeing.
I am a humanistic integrative therapist and also trained as a BPS-approved master practitioner in eating disorders with the National Centre for Eating Disorders. Through this training, I am also able to help you towards restoring your nutritional status through food. I sometimes weave into my approach some elements of other specialised eating disorder training I have done via King's College London (MANTRA) and the University of Oxford (CBT-E).
I also run a disordered eating support service within BIMM Brighton and BIMM Bristol University whereby students in need can access a block of 6 therapy sessions to support their recovery.
My first session
I offer a free online consultation lasting up to half an hour, so we can meet each other first, discuss what you're looking for support with and decide together if I may be able to help.
The process then begins with an assessment questionnaire for you to complete online before attending our first session. We start with a full assessment to help build a treatment plan that is right for you, and together we can gradually start to make sense of your situation and explore how to move forward. My fee is £65 per session (£55 for concessions).
I'm also registered with the following health insurance companies: AXA Health, Aviva, WPA, Cigna Healthcare and Vitality Health. Aetna & Healix are also possibilities.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Depression, Development coaching, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Loss, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma
