About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative therapist. I draw mostly from psychodynamic theories, meaning that I work to help a client discover the unconscious processes that drive their responses and behaviours. I believe that when these processes are acknowledged and accepted, this opens the door to the possibility of change.
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Some may want a space to discuss difficulties they are having in life. These people might be dealing with a difficult relationship or problems at work, for example. Others might come to therapy because they are experiencing unexpected life events that throw them for a loop, such as a bereavement or news of illness or infertility. Others simply would like to take inventory of their life as they notice a difficult relationship with themselves and are curious to understand how their past may be impacting their present.
Whatever your reason for therapy, I believe we can work together to help you understand yourself and help you live a more fulfilling life.
Practice description
The belief that each person is worthy of being loved, cared for, and respected underpins my work as a therapist. It informs the way I approach my clients, ensuring the therapeutic space is one that is accepting, safe, and confidential.
My first session
I offer prospective clients a free 15 minute telephone consultation so I can hear more about you and answer any questions you might have about starting therapy. I feel that it's important to have a conversation before committing to the therapy process.
The initial session is an opportunity to see how we can work together, explore your expectations and desired outcomes from therapy, and for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the process. Offering you a safe space to be seen and heard is my top priority.
