About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Emily: an East London-based therapist specialising in working with loss, crisis, loneliness, relationship difficulties, stress, depression, anxiety and LGBTQ+ issues.
Maybe you're visiting this page because something specific is happening: perhaps a bereavement, anxiety while socialising, a relationship breakdown, or something from your past that is affecting your present. Maybe it's really difficult to put your finger on what you're feeling, but you know something isn't quite right: perhaps it's a struggle to find meaning, purpose, confidence or joy. Or maybe you're here because want to examine your life, to get to know yourself better, or to dedicate some time to self-care. Whatever has brought you here, there is room for it in therapy.
Therapy is a space for you to talk, without anyone judging you or telling you what to do. We explore your world at your pace, and in your style. I help you navigate your exploration, so that you can deepen your awareness of yourself, your relationships and your history. I believe that deeper awareness provides you with greater freedom to choose how you live your life, enabling you to feel more fulfilled, more able to deal with life's challenges, and more open to embracing them.
How I work
I often explain the way I work as: I'm here to help you hear what you are saying. Life in 2019 London can so often feel as if it's lived on autopilot: it's difficult to connect with or explore what we're experiencing and feeling while already trying to manage finances, responding to social media notifications and striking a work/life balance. By working together, we can strip away these other voices so that we can start to hear your voice more clearly. I'm here to help you hear what you are saying, so that you can start listening to yourself.
