About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Emily, I'm a fellow Londoner and a therapist.

I specialise in helping Millennials and members of the LGBTQ+ community with all sorts of life challenges and questions.

Sometimes, I work within quite specific areas, including loss, anxiety, relationships, communication, conflict, identity, lack of direction, purpose or meaning, and LGBTQ+ issues. At other times, people come to see me because something in their life just doesn’t feel right, even if they can't quite put their finger on what.  Therapy isn't reserved for any specific person, emotion or life event: just wanting to feel happier, or to get know yourself better, or to have a place to talk, is more than enough to start a conversation.

Practice description

I came to therapy via studying philosophy, languages and literature (as dry as that may sound!). This background continues to influence my work, as do several different schools of thought and culture (including, as a quintessential Millennial, film and TV, video games and podcasts). I have a long-held interest in how we each view ourselves and our world, and I find that art and culture can often provide us with a window into better understanding our own experience.

A focus on developing and deepening awareness is a hallmark of my practice, as it is much easier to process, accept or change things once we can understand them. Every life lived is worth examining - and through that examination, we can discover how to live a life that actually fits us well.

I offer a flexible approach, curated to what you want from your therapy - whether that's solutions to an immediate issue, a deeper exploration of your life, or a combination of the two. I'm a Registered Member of the BACP and I work within their Ethical Framework.

I have particular experience of working with millennial clients, and in January 2020 I spoke at a BACP conference about working with this generation. I also have additional training in working with bereavement and loss: loss in particular feels very relevant to the millennial identity, so these two specialisms often combine.

My first session

If you feel that I may be a good fit for you, or if you have any questions you'd like to ask me to help you determine this, you're very welcome to get in touch. The best way to contact me is via email, and I will respond to you by the next working day.

When getting in touch, there is nothing particular that you need to tell me about you - you can say whatever you feel comfortable saying. It would be helpful if you could let me know what your availability for sessions with me would be, so that I can see whether I am able to offer you an initial session at a suitable time and date.

An initial session with me is a chance for us to speak a little about what's going on for you at the moment; to explore any questions you have about therapy; and to get a gauge on whether we might be a good fit with what you're looking for. I offer a reduced fee of £50 for this appointment.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Emily. I'm a fellow Londoner and a therapist specialising in helping 'millennials' and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

I work with anyone who wants something to be different in their  life.

I've helped people explore all sorts of life challenges and questions, including loss, anxiety, low self-esteem or self-confidence, relationships, communication, identity, lack of direction, purpose or meaning, and LGBTQ+ issues. Often, people come to see me because they just don't feel happy, even if they can't quite put their finger on why.

I will listen to whatever is on your mind, and explore it with you at your pace, in your style. We will navigate our exploration so that we can deepen your awareness of yourself, your life and your relationships: it becomes much more possible to change things when you can see them more clearly.

I'm a firm believer that every life lived is worth examining, and that whatever you are experiencing is deserving of being heard. Together, we can work towards finding what feels like the right way forward for you.

Practice description

I practice as an Integrative therapist, which just means that I use ideas from several different schools of thought in my work. Therefore, I can offer a flexible approach, curated to what you want from therapy - whether that's solutions to an immediate issue, a deeper exploration of your life, or a combination of the two.

I have particular experience of working with millennial clients, and in January 2020 I spoke at a BACP conference about working with this generation. I also have additional training in working with bereavement and loss: loss in particular feels very relevant to the millennial identity, so these two specialisms often combine.
