I work online and telephone. I also offer walk and talk sessions in East London. I work Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, with adults aged 18+ from all different backgrounds.
I offer 50mins sessions at the same time each week costing £50 per session.
Therapy may be short or long term and I usually suggest a commitment of a minimum of 6 sessions in order to give the counselling process the opportunity to develop. The length of the counselling then becomes open-ended if you do decide to continue.
About me and my therapy practice
Are you anxious about rejections and abandonment from people in your life, perhaps you fear being needy in relationships, or find it hard to communicate your needs in relationships, or you may feel stuck in repeated patterns of thoughts, behaviours, and relationships. Or maybe you feel isolated, not seen or heard, experiencing feelings of guilt, anger and overwhelmed by what life throws at you and too ashamed or embarrassed to tell anyone. Together we can figure out what is going on for you and explore the roots of your problems to shed light for you which can provide a powerful healing experience.
There is a reason for your sadness and suffering, my role is to help at a time where you'd like some assistance to navigate in certain areas which may be causing you distress. My approach is to listen and understand your experiences with zero judgement. I believe that the main reason why we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviours that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn faulty behaviours and replace them with healthy ones.
I know from experience, that everyone has the capacity for healing and recovery, and it is never too late for a positive transformation. My journey might be different from yours, but this has helped me realise the kind of environment that is needed for people to feel truly heard, seen and be compassionately curious about who they really are. Given how complex and overwhelming things can feel, it can be difficult to talk to our family and friends about our problems; it is often easier to speak to someone who is not emotionally involved in our lives. I don’t claim to have the answers, but I can help you acquire new coping skills and overcome obstacles in your path.
I have Liability insurance and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), so your information is held safely. I also work within the Data Protection Act 1998, so all your information is stored safely.
I respond to enquiries as soon as possible, please be patient if I don't respond straightaway as I may be with clients when you contact me. If you have not had an email back from me after a couple of hours, please check your junk/spam folder, just in case my reply has gone there.
My first session
During our first session, we will explore why you are looking for therapy; what you want to achieve from the therapy, and agree on how we will work together. The 1st session is considered an initial assessment. I will ask questions about your situation and please feel free to ask me any questions that you might have for me.
There is no such thing as a silly question. This will be the time for you and I to get to know each other. I will explain to you how I work. If at the end of the session you feel that we might be a good fit to work together, then we will arrange more sessions to continue our work together.
Sessions usually include exploring what you are hoping to achieve by the time you finish our sessions, and exploring a plan we can work towards for you to achieve your desired outcome. Counselling will give you the opportunity and space to get in touch with who you are. I use a range of different theoretical approaches to individually tailor how we work effectively together for your specific personal needs. This way, the whole of my attention is on you as a person and what your needs may be at that moment. My core modality is person centred which puts you at the centre of your journey.
I work by engaging in the here-and-now therapeutic relationship between us as an opportunity to understand how you relate to yourself and others in your life, and we can explore how your past might be affecting your present life. I will never push you to talk about anything you are not ready to explore, there will be times when I will challenge you gently to explore how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences.
