About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified online counsellor/therapist, I believe it to be an excellent medium, particularly for clients with anxiety issues or very busy lives, mobility issues or responsibility for others who cannot be left unattended. You can receive a quality service from the comfort of your own home or your own private office space. No extra travel time is used, all that is needed is access to a computer or Smart phone to log in for your 50 minute session.
If you have not used Zoom or similar platforms, please do not hesitate to ask me for assistance.
I offer a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space for adults (over 18 years of age) at any stage of their lives. I work with you to reduce anxiety, stress, sadness, confusion and/or face losses through bereavement, redundancy, divorce or other life changes. Most of us have relationship difficulties in the ups and downs of life which can be helped by talking to someone who is not involved.
These may be current issues or losses or unresolved concerns arising from the past.
Practice description
After leaving health research, (for some years in mental health), moving from psychology to counselling over the last 20 years (volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Care, and to date, the Bereavement Counselling Charity) I chose to start my own private practice.
I hold a BSc. in Psychology, an MSc in Health Psychology (which included counselling around health issues) and a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (2020). I therefore bring both experience and recent education to my work.
I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered member of British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) and I comply with their Ethics, Guidelines and Complaints procedure. In addition, I hold an ACTO recognised qualification in On-line and Telephone counselling.
I keep records in accordance with legal requirements, and follow GDPR Guidelines as confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me.
My first session
Initially, I prefer to have a brief no-charge telephone conversation with prospective clients to take a few details and get an outline of what they are looking for from their sessions.
Following that, I offer an initial reduced price video call session to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe with my way of working and that my skills meet your needs (approximately 40-50 minutes) at £25 (payable by bank transfer in advance).
Subsequent sessions are £45 per session, which are normally on a weekly basis at a mutually agreed time.
Please discuss it with me if you would like shorter sessions or have financial concerns.
Please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone, text or e-mail if you would like any further information.
Home visits may be available under certain circumstances at a slightly higher fee, to cover travel costs.
