About me and my therapy practice
I am currently a supervisor in training. In this connection I am able to accept a small number of supervisees at £35 per hour until I qualify.
As a supervisor, I am able to work face-to-face and have also trained and am working on qualification which specifically includes online supervision. Many supervisors now offer online supervision, which is great and definitely one of the ways forward now, but not all have been specifically trained in this area and this can mean being unaware of the specific risks, challenges and benefits of counselling online or via phone.
My aim is always to create a safe, warm and trust-filled space where recognising that you are the expert on your client(s) and where we can together take a step back and look at the strengths, achievements in your work and also explore collaboratively any difficulties or dilemmas.
Supervisor/supervisee is an important relationship and my aim is to make that a welcoming but useful relationship where we each learn from one another and where questions, doubts and worries can be discussed openly and where we can recognise and celebrate what has worked well in your practice.
I practice integratively with experience particularly in person-centred, CBT, solutions-focussed and also psychodynamic modalities.
I offer, and am qualified in online, telephone, email and face-to-face counselling, all based from my own home. Face to face therapy is delivered from a purpose-built therapy room situated in a garden setting. Where appropriate I also offer home visits.
I am able to provide both short/fixed-term therapy and open-ended/longer-term therapy according to your needs and always review with you regularly to check in how the counselling is progressing and working for you. We will work together towards an ending when that is appropriate for you.
I am happy to work with most issues and have particular experience of working with teenagers and children including those with disabilities, learning difficulties and special needs and their parents.
I also work with adults and people of any age with disabilities, special needs and with gender/sexuality issues. Additionally I also with clients who have suffered bereavement and those with short or long term health concerns including terminal illness. I have experience of working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Counselling should be accessible to as many people as possible.
My first session
Sessions are always 50 minutes, (therapeutic hour) and during our first session this is an opportunity to take an overview of what you feel is important to you and/or that you need help with.
We will talk through what I can offer, what you can expect and the intention is that you will leave with enough information to be able to decide if you feel comfortable working with me. If so, then we will arrange further sessions and talk about how that will work.
It's important that you feel happy and ready to proceed. You can always, ask me questions and I am always happy to talk about any concerns or reservations you might have.
