About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I qualified as a counsellor in 2007 and offer 1:1 counselling to both Adults and Children. I am person-centred trained, but due to gaining additional qualifications, I can also integrate soft Art Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy if they would suit you.
I create a safe and comfortable environment for anyone seeking support. I advocate loudly for the importance of choosing a counsellor who you, or your child, feel comfortable with. Every therapist is unique in their approach and personality.
I have been supporting adults 1:1 for over twelve years as a therapist, while also building a 18 year career working with a diverse group of children and young people. Including behaviour management, mental health concerns and family work.
I have multiple qualifications working with children and young people as well as a port folio of additional specialist certificates. Available to view on request.
At the moment I offer counselling sessions in Shrewsbury and I am enhanced DBS checked, which has been continuously renewed over the past 18 years.
me: I am owned by a cat. I play guitar. I draw (ish), and I am a little different
I work either traditionally, or creatively. I sit calmly opposite you, and entwine in your words.
Or I can be found sitting cross legged on a blanket on the floor: Surrounded by art materials and supporting you or your child to draw and create what you struggle to say out loud.
My first session
Our first session will be 30-35 minutes. It will be as informal as you like. It will involve you telling as much as you feel comfortable with, discussing how I work and just essentially getting a feeling of whether we both feel comfortable with each other.
If you are seeking counselling for your child, then we will all meet together for the first half of the session, and if your child feels comfortable, I will then spend the second half with your child alone: having a chat and seeing if we feel that I am the right counsellor for them.
