About me and my therapy practice
I have worked with Children and Young Adults for over 18 years, and I qualified as a Counsellor in 2007. I offer 1:1 counselling to young people and adults, and I am willing to support much younger children if they are able to engage in the talking process, this can be something we can explore within the initial session. With the young person's agreement, I can offer family integration.
Until recently I was also management and a leader of a team who support young people and adults, and I was very much at the centre of the 1:1 therapeutic work, while also devising individualised support packages. I have extensive training and skills to support a very wide and diverse array of challenging behaviours and mental health conditions. (Full list of specialised training available to view on my website)
I am person-centred trained, but as I have additional qualifications, I do integrate Art Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy while also drawing upon my diverse practical experience.
At the moment I offer counselling sessions in Shrewsbury and I am DBS checked in which has been continuously renewed over the past 18 years.
I appreciate that this short explanation of myself primarily discusses my work with children, but please remember I do also offer sessions to adults. Childhood trauma can manifest into damaging adult behaviours, or sometimes we just need someone impartial to talk to and to just listen.
