About me and my therapy practice

Hello and a warm Welcome

I am an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist working for many years in Private Practice and different Mental Health settings. This has informed my Practice and how I work.  My Trainings are in both Counselling and in Psychotherapy, therefore I am able to offer a wide range of modalities and can work with you in depth.  I am passionate about the work I do and I believe that with commitment on both sides and a belief in the process, therapy can bring about great change within yourself, how you feel about yourself and changes in your external life.

I offer a safe and compassionate way of working.  I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key in supporting you as you address what is going on in your life that has brought you into therapy.  Please do ask if you'd like to book in an initial session to meet with myself and have an experience of what it would be like to work with me.  This can be a helpful first step as well for you to take if you are hesitant in how to approach starting therapy and whether you feel you would like to embark upon the therapeutic process with me.

I am non-judgmental in my approach to what you share, and I hold what you say with respect, regard and curiosity.  I will ask you questions to deepen your awareness of what is going on for you.  I go at your pace, it is important that you feel that you are able to speak freely about your experience with me.  It can be an invaluable process for you to undertake for yourself and I am fully committed to you and your process whilst we work together.

I work Integratively that means I have been trained in  different therapy models and I will integrate these into our work together both intuitively and what feel right to offer to you.  I believe that we are each unique and therefore finding approaches that work and fit you and your experience is an important and integral part of the process.  These can also include Mindfulness and Meditation Practices.

Practice description

I offer short-term, medium-term and long-term Counselling and Psychotherapy online at present..  This will be discussed at the start of therapy in terms of what you need.

The frequency of sessions will also be discussed during the initial meeting.  I recommend a consistent commitment to therapy, this is what I find is the most supportive for you giving you the opportunity for reflection in between sessions and to bring back any discoveries about yourself that you have made outside of therapy.

I work in many areas including Complex PTSD/Developmental Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Narcissistic Abuse and Family Scapegoat Abuse, Loneliness, Childless-ness, Addiction, Trauma and PTSD, Divorce, Work-place issues, Bereavement, Grief, Loss.

Sessions are 50 minutes.

I receive regular Supervision and my own Therapy.

I attend regular CPD course and undertake different trainings to support my client work and keep me up to date in advances being made in the ever-growing therapy world.

I abide by and am regulated by the BACP.

I am fully insured and DBS checked.

I take regular breaks throughout the year, giving you advance notice of when I do.

My first session

In the first session, once you and I have committed to working together, I will take an Assessment of you that will help me to understand different information about your life.  This usually takes a session and is a way too of easing you gently into talking about yourself.  It can be a helpful and informative process for you too, talking about areas of your life that you perhaps hadn't given thought to and can form a base for our work together.

The Assessment is Confidential and will not be shared with anyone else.  This session will be 50 minutes as are the following sessions.
