About me and my therapy practice

I offer the psychodynamic approach to counselling where we will explore how your current problems may be influenced by your past experiences. This approach helps you become more aware of your emotions and bring the unconscious into consciousness. I offer you a safe and confidential space to explore your life and the challenges you are facing.

I offer both short-term (6-12 sessions) and long-term counselling either face to face, via zoom or over the telephone.

I have experience working as a freelance counsellor at a local wellbeing centre, an employee assistance organisation, NHS and have previously worked for a charity offering counselling.

I have an interest in meditation and mindfulness as I believe that being aware of the present moment, our thoughts and feelings can calm our minds and help us to be more self-aware.

I attend regular CPD workshops, seminars and webinars to ensure my knowledge and skills are kept up to date.

Practice description

We can sometimes feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed coping with the challenges of life. Perhaps you are experiencing negative thoughts or a low mood and are finding it difficult to experience any joy in life or are having difficulties connecting with others.  Perhaps the patterns of thinking or behaviour that previously helped you cope with life are no longer helping you.

We will work together in a safe and confidential space to explore and understand what is going on for you. This might involve identifying environmental factors which may have a negative impact on your life or unhelpful patterns of thinking and relating, which may be linked to past events and relationships.

I have experience supporting clients who have experienced stress, anxiety and/or depression and clients who have experienced bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, negative thinking, chronic pain and long-term health issues, trauma and relationship issues.

My first session

In the first session we explore what has brought you to therapy now and also to think about what you hope to gain from therapy and decide if I'm the right therapist for you.
