About me and my therapy practice
Whether you've been struggling for a while, or if an unexpected life event has hit you hard, taking the time to talk, process and reflect can help with perspective, equipping you with the tools and mechanisms to make the changes that allow you to move forward.
All of us go through periods when things get on top of us, and our normal strategies for coping are not enough. It takes courage to seek help, but in doing so you are taking a first step towards change.
One in four adults will experience a mental health challenge each year in the UK, so when is the right time to seek professional help? If the situation feels overwhelming and usual support structure and strategies aren't enough then finding a therapist who can provide a safe environment to explore what is going on can bring greater clarity and understanding, and so open the possibility for change and renewal. Ideally, our relationships provide safe haven, but when this is challenged, possibly through infidelity, illness or change, then we can feel blindsided by the potential loss.
I'm qualified as a person centred counsellor which means I'm led by the client, their experience and their goals. In addition, I'm undergoing further, specialist psychosexual and relationship training. I'm currently working F2F with individuals and couples with a range of issues including porn addiction, living with cancer, low mood and anxiety.
My first session
Taking the first step is daunting and I like to make it as easy as possible for clients to reach out. I offer a free, no obligation 30min exploratory session to enable you to find out more, to ask questions, share concerns and establish how counselling may help
