I am currently based in Spain, I have been working remotely for over a year, and have found it achieves good results. Working from home means that we can connect from the safety of your home through Zoom/Skype or phone. I can work in English or Spanish.

About me and my therapy practice

I can provide a safe space where you can freely explore your deepest fears and yearnings. I believe that the problems that impel us to seek help are gateways for us to discover something deeper and truer within ourselves. Our childhood and our lifetime experiences may have buried something really authentic about ourselves, but they have also taken you through a life journey up to this uncomfortable place where you want someone to talk to. Maybe this marks the start of another journey, one which travels inwards into your own heart.

We all want healing, but I don’t think we get to heal in the way a broken bone is healed. The wounds we carry, particularly the earlier ones from our childhood, are not possible to heal. Nothing can change what happened. But what can change and heal is the relationship that we have with ourselves and with our own wounding. It can be a slow and gentle process where the main ingredients are trust and time.

I will be a guide who will be there to witness and reflect back who you are and who you will become. I see this as a great privilege, and this is true of all the clients I have worked with. Every one of us has an amazing and unique story to tell, and a unique path to travel.

The paradox of this path is that, even if the heart is the closest thing we have, it takes a long, meandering, often painful and always fascinating, journey back to it.

Practice description

I have an integrative approach, which takes inspiration from depth and archetypal psychology (Jung, Hillman) combined with a psychodynamic foundation. This simply means that we will look at your childhood to explore your primary attachments and the experiences that shape your personality. A wider perspective; your environment, history, culture, and the stories of your family will all be part of the lens through which we will look at your life. The other side is the potentiality of what needs to grow and come out of these roots, the flourishing of the person, the celebration of a unique path of life. We can look at your problems as gateways into your soul, or as some like to say, the real you.

It may be useful to contrast this approach with a more behavioural approach (CBT) where you would learn techniques and ways of thinking to cope and manage your symptoms in order to be more ‘effective’ in life. There is nothing wrong with this, but, while it can work well, it can miss what is brewing in the depths of your soul.

I trained for three years as an integrative transpersonal counsellor at the Re-vision training centre (www.re-vision.org.uk), and have been working for a mental health charity as part of my practice. I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and my work is fully insured and supervised.

“Healing isn’t about recovery; it’s about discovery. Discovering hope in hopelessness, discovering an answer where there doesn’t seem to be one, discovering that it’s not what happens that matters - it’s what you do with it.” Edith Eger

My first session

The most important factor in counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and client. So an introductory session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We can talk about what issues have brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve.

While my regular session rate is £45 for 60 minutes, I offer a free half-hour initial appointment.

If we agree to work together, then we will set you a weekly time slot for us to have safe, confidential sessions. A weekly slot is the best way to find the stability needed to make change.
