About me and my therapy practice
After overcoming various health troubles myself, I decided to assist other people when they are finding things too difficult to work through on their own, by training to be a counsellor, as I have a good understanding of how things can affect you and how this can manifest in various different ways. My experience includes offering counselling for service users of a drug and alcohol recovery charity, working as part of a bereavement support team for a hospice, offering 1-2-1 support for bereaved family members of patients of the hospice, I also work with children and yp within a school environment, using play therapy.
I have seen clients who have brought a wide range of issues including: - • Anxiety • Stress • Bereavement • Illness and disability • Abuse • Addiction • Identity issues • Relationship problems • low self-esteem. Person Centred therapy has helped them to take back control of their lives, by giving them the confidence to believe in themselves.
Taking that first step to trust in our relationship with our counsellor can be really difficult, as coming to counselling can lead us to feeling vulnerable, as we expose our true selves warts and all, for our counsellor to see. It can be empowering to get our stories off our chest and to hear them back, being told to us as the counsellor reflects it back.
I work from therapy rooms in Farnworth and Leigh, both have good access to local public transport and parking close to the buildings.
