About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Danielle. I am a qualified psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP.
My qualifications include a BSc in Counselling Psychology, an MSc in Psychological Therapies, and specialist training in Bereavement, Loss and Complicated Grief.
I tend to take a person centred approach when working with clients, which focuses on working together effectively from the clients frame of reference with the client guiding the process.
However, I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic practice which allows me to work in an integrative way and offer counselling that is tailored to the clients needs. As such, I offer short term or long term therapy to adults dealing with a range of different issues.
Practice descriptionI am currently providing online and telephone sessions from a private/confidential home office work space - I can work on different platforms such as Zoom or Skype etc.
Due to the pandemic, this option has proved successful. By offering remote counselling, my hope is that services like this reach more people of different ages who may otherwise find it difficult to have face to face sessions. Particularly those who have spent a long time isolating, lost loved ones, working from home or experiencing loneliness.

My first session
A first session with me starts with going over the basic principles of therapy - confirming the days/times of sessions, confidentiality, discussing your needs and expectations of therapy and how we might work together going forward. After this, I will leave it to you as to how you would like to start.
Before the first session, I like to have a 15-30 min phone call to get an idea of the issues that have made you seek counselling. This allows us to discuss whether short/long term therapy is best and gives you the opportunity to get a sense of whether or not I am the right therapist for you.
