About me and my therapy practice
Life can throw us difficult challenges: how we deal with them may negatively impact on our mental health and well-being. You might feel totally overwhelmed with anxiety or worry, or perhaps you feel numb, unable to deal with the pain or sadness you are feeling. Sometimes talking to loved ones may not be enough, or worse, could make you feel lonelier and more isolated.
Coming into counselling can feel daunting and a huge step: talking about yourself and your emotions might even seem scary. As a counsellor, I will provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore any anxiety, fear or distress that you may be experiencing. You are at the centre of our work together and I will ensure that the therapy progresses at your pace and in your own time.
I'm a fully qualified counsellor trained in person centred, trauma informed and CBT approaches. As every client is unique in what they bring to counselling, I tailor my methods to suit your needs. Whether you have a specific issue that you want to discuss or you’re unsure of what is troubling you, I will work with you to clarify those concerns and enable you to unearth the answers you need.
I've developed my own busy private practice, having previously worked for Relate and in the NHS helping those with emotional difficulties and in crisis. My practice is very welcoming and inclusive and the diversity of clients I work with reflects this.
My experience means I've worked with many clients who come to me with issues mainly around anxiety, stress, trauma, emotional neglect, family/relationship conflict, abuse, identity issues, depression and low self-esteem.
I offer one to one therapy with young people and adults over 18 years old.
In addition, if you're finding it hard to resolve issues with your partner, I offer couple and relationship counselling which you can either attend on your own or both together.
