About me and my therapy practice

My specialism is Bereavement. I work with Young People, Adults and Elders. During Covid 19 I'm offering new clients a free 30 minutes exploratory conversation to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

I've had the pleasure of working as an Audiologist for the past 25 years and more recently a School counsellor and Bereavement volunteer for Cruse. I am always heartened by our ability for growth and adaption especially when life seems to throw challenges our way and we face the unexpected.

I have many years experience working with people from all ages and groups plus lots of transferable skills when it comes to working as a counsellor. I'm quite unusual having worked with hearing impairment and deaf culture, understanding what it feels like to be different and embrace diversity.

Why choose me? If you are looking for maturity, gentleness and someone who puts you at ease, I might be the right fit for you. I believe that finding the right counsellor takes time and trust that the right clients will find me.

How can counselling help? Person-Centered counselling is all about you and your needs. We talk about the organism and its needs and its ability to grow. Just like a plant, without the right conditions it fails to thrive and we are no different. I will not tell you what to do or give you answers, my work is all about you finding your way, making changes that seem right to you.

Practice description

In a nutshell my practice is all about Empathy & Communication.

It's that difficult stuff that lies under the surface which sometimes is unsaid and extremely hard to talk about. We can feel conflicted, causing all manner of feelings such as guilt, shame, remorse or blame.

If you are conflicted with your feelings and emotions and feel there are no words to describe this, I can offer a safe compassionate space for you to explore this, to talk about those feelings and help move away from feeling feeling stuck, lost or alone. This is a confidential space.

Who do I want to work with?

I can work with Children if Gillick competent but ideally looking to see Young People 18+, Adults and Elders.

My first session

Let us begin together. I work with open sessions and planned reviews to meet your individual needs. This depends on your original enquiry (Presenting issue) and what you want to achieve from counselling. We can talk about expectations, exactly what you want to achieve from therapy and how long this might take.
