About me and my therapy practice

Hello. I’m Lorraine. I’m working online via Zoom and Doxy.me plus offering telephone consultations during Covid if you prefer.

I’m open to working with anyone, embracing diversity.

I work part-time as an Audiologist and School counsellor, with the rest of my working week fully committed to my private clients.

With over 25+ years NHS working with the hearing-impaired, plus counselling experience working with Grief and Loss for Cruse Bereavement Care and with Young People in secondary schools currently for Kooth agency  (originally Xenzone), I have a lot of transferable skills to offer. I am skilled at working with different ages and abilities.

This includes Adults with learning disabilities, young people 18+ and elders.

The last couple of months have been incredibly challenging living and dealing with the ongoing impact of Covid 19. If you are struggling with your mental health, what I call ‘the together-alone paradox’ in any way then I am here to offer a listening ear and counselling support. This is particularly apt to my NHS family.

Practice description

Part of person-centred Counselling is the organism and it’s ability to grow. Without the right conditions it can fail to thrive. Counselling offers the right conditions for adaption and growth.

It is non-directive and non- judgmental. My practice is all about Empathy and Communication, difficult unsaid stuff rather than what is on the surface. This can create tension, stress, anxiety and depression.

I create a safe compassionate space to explore feelings and emotions when there may seem to be no words. Counselling can give a sense of movement away from a place of feeling stuck, lost or alone.

I also fully adhere to the Ethical framework, commit to regular supervision and have private insurance.

My first session

Most importantly, my aim is to put you at ease and meet you with gentleness and a warm smile. I am easy to talk to and have excellent listening skills. Above all I am fully committed to counselling and trust the right clients will find me. I hold the belief ‘we are all in this together’.

We can start at the beginning with expectations and what exactly you want to achieve from therapy. Normally I suggest six to eight sessions with a review in the middle and end session but I can also offer open ended work as well as time-limited.
