About me and my therapy practice

Using the psychodynamic approach, I aim to listen carefully to what you have to say and, in response, help you to think about and make links between events and themes in your life. My role is not to advise, rather to support you to discover your own solutions.

Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, I am offering therapy sessions entirely online or by phone, although normally I would also provide face to face appointments at my Glasgow city centre consulting room. I have a special interest in childhood trauma, PTSD and complex trauma.

My experience includes counselling in both private/EAP and public sectors, in prisons and with third sector agencies for survivors of organised violence and crime. I am experienced in working with perinatal issues as well as more generalised themes including anxiety, depression, loss, anger and relationship issues.

I have skills in working with the Asylum Seeking/Refugee community where interpreting services are required either in person or by phone.

You are very welcome to email or text me with an initial enquiry. Sessional fees are £50 (£35 conc) per 50 mins, two free places are offered for individuals suffering distress as a result of displacement or war.

Further details about bookings and the way I work can be found at my website.

Practice description

My consulting room is situated in a quiet, private location in Glasgow city centre.

Set between the Merchant City and Dennistoun, it is just a short walk from High St and Bellgrove stations. A regular bus service runs along Duke St, with the nearest stop at Tennants Brewery. Free car parking is also available adjacent to the centre.

Located on the second floor, the room can be accessed by lift or by stairs. The centre is also fully accessible, with secure entry system.

My first session

Your first appointment is a no obligation assessment session.

It offers you the opportunity to get a feel for how I work, and for me to hear something about any aims and expectations that you may have from therapy. We can also think about whether the psychodynamic approach may be suitable for you.

It is also a chance for us to go through my contract, which we can sign and date, should you decide you would like to continue with further sessions. This supports us to agree the framework and boundaries of your therapy going forward.

There is usually time for me to hear something about your personal history too, although I aim to offer a flexible approach towards supporting your immediate needs, whatever they may be.  There will be the opportunity to continue your story as you wish, over subsequent sessions.

Your first appointment last for 50 minutes and is payable in cash.

About me and my therapy practice

Clinical supervision is offered for practicing counsellors/therapists and counsellors in training/student therapists.

While I am happy to work with any modality, my approach is always underpinned by psychodynamic thinking.  My experience includes supervising practitioners as well as students, on a one to one and group basis.

Sessions are currently offered online or by phone, due to Covid 19 restrictions, although normally the option to meet face to face at my Glasgow city centre consulting room, would be available.

An initial no obligation meeting of 30 minutes is offered at no charge. This give us the opportunity to explore whether I might be the right person to offer you clinical supervision going forward.

On the basis that we agree to proceed to work together, all further sessions last 50-60 mins and are payable by cash or bank transfer.
