About me and my therapy practice

Covid 19 NHS - 50% concessional rate available to frontline NHS / Emergency Service / Care home staff experiencing emotional distress. I am a trauma trained therapist and have experience supporting people involved directly and indirectly in trauma incidents such as the London Bridge terrorist attacks and serious crime. I am able to support staff experiencing high levels of stress/distress, via internet and telephone in the current health crisis. Please get in touch to discuss concessionary rates.

I have extensive experience working as a Counsellor / Psychotherapist with individuals, families and young people experiencing emerging or long term emotional issues and mental distress.

My approach is attachment focused and informed by an understanding that early life experiences may influence the way we approach our relationships with others, the way we experience ourselves in the world and the way we respond to challenge.   Our identity, sense of belonging, creativity, self esteem, aspirations and the ability to take or avoid risk, are subtly influenced by past relational experiences and events that lay beyond our control. Sometimes these influences can be absorbed as negative self beliefs underpinning self negating beliefs, relationship stress, isolation, addiction, anxiety and depression.

Counselling can liberate us from the binding self beliefs and difficult emotions that limit inherent potentials. It can enable the recognition that we do have choice and that positive change is achievable.

I am EMDR trained to work with trauma/PTSD, whether it be related to a single traumatic event or long term exposure to relational and/or physical trauma and/or abuse. Additionally in response to life changing loss, including perinatal trauma, and post natal anxiety / PTSD, for mothers and fathers who have experienced baby loss, infertility trauma and infant / child serious illness.
