About me and my therapy practice

Talking honestly about how we are feeling can be difficult, as can finding someone who will listen to our worries and concerns. I aim to provide a safe, confidential non-judgemental setting where you can feel you are being fully heard.

Our sessions together will help you to gain insight and perspective, to tap into and understand some of your deeper feelings and emotions and to let go of them where appropriate. 

I can also help you to develop coping strategies and calming techniques to manage the difficult thoughts and emotions that trouble us when we are in a low mood or feeling anxious. This may be especially useful if you are experiencing stress, anxiety, or any emotions that interfere with your day-to-day ability to function effectively.

Our work together will allow you to move forward in your life with more confidence and a greater sense of purpose and well-being.

I work with adult clients of all ages, but especially anxiety related problems and self-esteem. By self-esteem I mean feelings of self-worth, self-belief and self-identity. Other areas I can work with include depression, loss and bereavement, stress and individual relationship problems.

I work alongside my wife who is also a counsellor at our private practice in Whitley Bay, within walking distance of nearby metro stations. Free on-road parking is available outside.

In addition to having a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I formerly trained as a hypnotherapist. This means I have a particular awareness of the ways mental calm and relaxation can help in dealing with problems.  

I offer a free half-hour initial consultation which will give you an opportunity to consider whether the kind of counselling I offer is suited to you. You can decide in your own time whether you want to go ahead. I can work with you either short-term or long-term and will give you a realistic idea of what can be achieved in the time agreed.
