About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile and counselling practice.
I'm Faye and I am a qualified Psychodynamic Therapist. From November, I will be based in my consulting room in Burford alongside online therapy.
You may have found my profile as you are finding life difficult right now. Perhaps you are feeling trapped and everything feels very overwhelming and anxiety provoking. Maybe you are frightened by the thought of your future, or struggling to make sense of your past.
I can offer you the empathy, emotional support and secure space you need to help you through your struggle and personal exploration.
You may come with a particular focus or during a life crisis. Alternatively, you might want to use our sessions to reflect, explore and deepen your understanding of yourself.
I work both short term and long term, and I work particularly well with millennials (aged from 18 to approximately 45) who have experienced an unusual or dysfunctional childhood, or narcissistic parenting. If you are struggling with social anxiety or this is your first time seeking therapy, we might also be a good match.
Practice descriptionMy personal approach is focused on uncovering and exploring unconscious memories and behaviours that influence our present actions, thoughts and relationships.
When we learn about the origins of our behaviour, we increase our self awareness and so put ourselves in a better position to create long-lasting change and growth.
I will work alongside you to establish a deeply human and unique relationship that is based on honesty, intimacy and a genuine interest in you.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to give you an idea of what a first session with me might be like and to help you decide if we would make a good therapy match.
All therapists have their own unique way of working and I would describe my style as empathically explorative. As I often work with anxiety, I understand that coming to therapy for the first time is a big deal and can be quite frightening. This is why my first session is warm, gentle and containing. I'm happy to go at your pace and if you feel uncomfortable and panicky, we can sit with this together.
