About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person Centred Therapist seeing clients in Glasgow City Centre and Online.
I have spent the majority of my career within the helping profession and the past 10 years working in a variety of roles within health and social care. I have previous experience working as a therapist within the voluntary sector and the NHS.
I can help with a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, past trauma or low self esteem. I am also interested in helping clients with relationship or family issues who might struggle to resolve conflicts or set boundaries with other people.
I believe that many of the difficulties we face have their roots in our early familial relationships and what we learn from our family of origin. I am very interested in exploring how these patterns shape our relationships with others over time, often with the same issues repeating themselves across relationships, families and even generations.
My work as a therapist is informed by both my academic training in Psychology and Psychotherapy as well as my own personal struggles in striving for good mental health. I try to combine my theoretical knowledge of what can help with my own personal understanding of how challenging life can be and how overwhelming our difficulties can often seem. I am skilled in offering genuine authentic relationships with others and prefer to use my human skills over technical skills. I believe my own personal experience is key to my success as a therapist as it adds a level of understanding and respect for clients that cannot be gained through training alone.
My first session
I am aware that it can feel intimidating to seek help with sensitive issues, and meeting with a therapist can be overwhelming. In the first instance, you are welcome to contact me by phone for an informal chat about how we might work together or what to expect. During our first session I will not ask intrusive questions or pressure you to speak about anything you do not want to share. My aim is to help you get comfortable talking with me and figure out what you most need help with....and hopefully leave you feeling better in the the process!
