About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for taking the time to read my description.

The hardest thing about working with a new therapist is finding the right one; sending that e-mail and then attending the first session. I know, I have been there too!

I pride myself in making you feel as welcome and as relaxed as you can be. After all, if you are not comfortable, how can you get the best out of the sessions? As a result, I have created a comfortable, welcoming and relaxing space where we can work together on issues you wish to present.

Currently, I work in a mental health hospital with patients who have been sectioned under the mental health act.

In my previous role, I worked as a staff psychotherapist/counsellor supporting staff who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.

I work with clients privately and have a fully up to date enhanced DBS. I am also fully insured.

I am an accredited therapist with the BABCP to deliver CBT.

I train counsellors and trainee counsellors in a variety of topics such as:

• Supporting LGBT clients

• Grief counselling

• Domestic abuse

• Relational depth

• Counselling Trauma

Psychology and counselling are my passion and I love the job I do. I lecture psychology at university and am an examiner for A level psychology.

I have extensive experience in leadership and management and coaching especially in the education sector as I was once a senior leader and SENCO in a high school.

My main method of counselling is Person-Centred; however, I use a range of therapeutic techniques such as CBT to support the client that I am working with.

If you have any further questions, then please do not hesitate to contact me.

SUPERVISION: I also offer clinical supervision. If this is something you require, please contact me for further details.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, an accredited CBT therapist and a qualified supervisor.

In terms of my own practice, I work 4 days a week at a mental health hospital working with complex clients sectioned under the mental health act. I also work with a range of clients in private practice.

I lecture Psychology and counselling at university and am in the process of completing my doctorate in counselling psychology specialising in CBT, and Psychotherapy as an approach but consider myself an integrative therapist who works to the needs of the client.

I worked in education for 15 years teaching psychology and becoming an assistant principal (SENCO) before leaving education to work in the mental health sector.

My supervision style is open, honest and challenging when it needs to be. I use the Hawkins and Shohet 7 eye model of supervision when working with fellow therapists.

I have supervised trainees and qualified therapists
