About me and my therapy practice
I work with warmth, compassion and equity to create space for you to explore and release a full range of feelings and experiences. My role as a counsellor is to be alongside you, creating a supported therapeutic space for reflection and emotional release. We can work together to explore patterns of being and thinking that you feel a need to prioritise, resulting in shifts and changes in your perspectives. If you are seeking supported challenge I will encourage you to examine alternative views on situations and holding space for you to consider and move through making positive changes. I will help you to recognise your own power and find ways to live your life as well as you possibly can including finding ways to manage stressors and difficulties which are not not in your power to control . My therapeutic counselling provides an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and to find your own solutions to any difficulties you identify. Helping you to recognise your own power and find ways to live your life as well as you possibly can. At its most basic level counselling is a place where you have space and time to focus on yourself.
Counselling is not about being helped by someone else who suggests solutions to your problems, it is a process of discovery we make together. Often this process can be difficult and challenging. You may want to talk about painful experiences, feelings or deep-rooted fears. You might be feeling embarrassment or shame. My role is to support you in taking the risk of sharing and helping you to take care of yourself.
Please note, that during the COVID-19 pandemic I am working online or by telephone. Once it is safe to do so I will also resume face to face sessions at Fiveways' Therapy Rooms.
I offer short term or long term contracts. Much of the work done comes from working with you to change what you can to better manage challenging circumstances, process emotions that feel hard and difficult, find out more about yourself for yourself and challenge habits of thinking or behaving that you want to change.
My first session
We start with a free 30 minute telephone consultation. This will be to discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and give you a sense of how I work. If in agreeance we will then arrange an appointment for an initial consultation.
