About me and my therapy practice
In addition to pleasure and contentedness, life necessarily involves feelings of grief and uncertainty.
We come into the world knowing, and we are deeply imprinted with earliest experience. The first relationship was a source of satisfaction and frustration. We spend a large part of our lives wondering about ourselves, and others, and negotiating the space between us.
Successive psychologies have conceived existence as primal conflict, or paradox, with neuroscience latterly confirming what we knew all along. The experience of loving and being loveable (or otherwise) is likely the single most important variable determining wellbeing.
We are born and die separately; most of us spend about a third of our available time asleep. Dreams and subconscious resist definition. If meanings are elusive, and events uncertain, we might nevertheless practice commitment to the here-and-now. We have decisions to make, relationships to consider, and difficulties to contend with.
Psychotherapy - once known as ‘The Talking Cure’; oddly the least of it is talk. Notwithstanding the need for words, life is our dreaming the unspoken.
50 minutes at the same time preferably weekly, attendance as agreed: notifying the other of planned and unforeseen absences: paying on time. You are free to observe the agreement, or not; you are free to terminate the agreement any time - preferably with some notice.
