About me and my therapy practice
I work relationally building a strong sense of trust in the therapeutic relationship. It is important to work at each person's pace. I believe the relationship is central to therapy and a persons growth within a counselling setting.
I recognise each individual is unique and therefore work to meet individual needs. This can be short term or long term, working with current or past issues.
I occasionally offer some creative ways of working if a client feels it useful. These can improve and increase understanding and heighten self-awareness in order recognise past and present unhealthy patterns of behaviour. It can also be an symbolic doorway to understand negative thoughts patterns.
I believe given the right environment, it can facilitate change if desired.
I work in a caring way, and have curiosity, understanding, and am non-judgemental.
I encourage self-reflection & self help to gain deeper understanding of 'self'. My aim is driven by the neuroscience view and I work integrating various theories.
Being able to process and manage our emotions/feelings in a balanced way, makes life feel manageable. For example, We all have bad days but when our minds are balanced these don't feel so unmanageable.
