Therapist - Brighton

Brighton BN1
Sessions from £50.00

I currently work on a Tuesday in central Brighton (BN1) but I also have limited availability elsewhere at other times in Hove (BN3).

About me and my therapy practice

We all have times when feelings, memories and experiences can feel hard to manage. They can lead us to feel anxious, depressed or low in mood and energy. It can feel challenging, wondering how we got to where we are and not knowing how to move forward. Sometimes, life events such as a bereavement, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job or sudden unexpected illness or injury can feel like a tremendous and unexpected blow.

Recognising that we need help can feel daunting, confusing or even hopeless, which is why I offer a safe and supportive environment for you to talk. I invite you to bring your feelings and experiences to explore in a non-judgemental, confidential and compassionate space, where you are free to be your true self, and together, we can work to figure things out.

Practice description

I work integratively as a humanistic relational therapist. I believe that we can all change and desire to be our true authentic selves. Focussing predominantly upon Person-Centred and Gestalt approaches, my method is holistic, drawing upon various skills to support my clients to develop and build resources. Together, we work to explore what may be bothering them so that they can grow and evolve.

I work experientially, in an embodied informal and down to earth manner. The relationship is a collaboration, focussing upon the here-and-now experience, raising awareness and creating space for change. There may be humour and lightness or vulnerability and challenge as we explore who we are in relationship to ourselves, each other and the world.

Having worked with people of all ages and walks of life, I have extensive experience. I have worked in private practice and mental health services, including a specialist service for the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, I volunteer in mental health services within the NHS.

My first session

At Brighton Therapy Centre, I invite new clients to attend an initial assessment in person. There is a small fee for this service, and details are on their website. I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation by Zoom or telephone in my practice elsewhere. A private face to face consultation with me costs £25. An assessment is your opportunity to meet me, see how you feel about working with me and for us to get to know each other a little. There is time to ask questions and share what may be on your mind. We will then discuss your needs and wants from therapy before looking at if or how we may work together to support your goals.
