About me and my therapy practice

My name is Carol. I am an integrative Counsellor with over 10 year’s experience. I consider myself privileged. In my role as a therapist I have the opportunity to meet with clients who wish to invest in their mental health and cultivate their personal growth.
My aim is to help you feel at ease and comfortable so that you can tell your story, its ok if you do not have one, not everyone comes with a story. You may recognise you have struggles that have been present for a while like social anxiety, or you may have specific goals you would like to work on. Perhaps you are aware of your inner critic affecting you self esteem and confidence, leaving you constantly feeling 'not good enough'.
Anxiety and worry can be a constant battle, at its worst it can be persistent and debilitating, panic attacks often being the result. For others it might be there in the background, a pattern of worry that retreats but never goes away. Negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious circle often causing low mood.
Negative thoughts can sometimes develop from relatively small worries that become persistent and deep rooted, causing pain and discomfort. In a fast changing world that never seems to give rest from the challenges of life, things can escalate and our thoughts can bring despair. This can leave us always expecting the worst to happen, and feeling depressed, fearful and afraid.
Whatever the cause or measure of your anxiety, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help you understand unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours, encouraging more balanced thinking and healthier alternatives. Evidence suggests CBT is useful for general anxiety disorder, OCD, panic attacks and depression.
At present I am working online, this seems to work well for most people as long as you have a confidential space in which you can talk.
I have recently completed an online course - Coronovirus Primer. This is an Open University Course which is recommended by BACP for working ethically and safely online.
