About me and my therapy practice
- Are you struggling with a difficulty in your life and feel ready for some help? Would you like someone to talk to who will listen with compassion, curiosity and without judgement? We all have worries from time to time.
- Hello. I'm Savita and I run Serenity Counselling and Psychotherapy where I offer a space to talk, connect, feel & breathe.
- Serenity Counselling was founded based on my 20 years as a practising therapist MBACP (Accred) and 30 years of experience in the helping professions. It developed from my love of supporting adults and young people to living more peaceful lives.
- My goal is to offer you a confidential, safe & warm space to work through your difficulties. I am a professional therapist with significant experience of working with varied stress/mental health issues and illness, both mild and more acute or serious concerns. My clinical experience includes working in social care, charity, education, business & private sectors.
- I am committed to working in a trauma sensitive way. I have developed a holistic way of working that values you as an individual whilst also understanding your cultural/family context and your life experience. My service is kept informed with up to date research based on clinical excellence.

- My counselling experience is substantial, it comes from a true understanding the world can be a stressful experience without the resources, self awareness & wisdom to help us get through. - Our time together is an opportunity for learning and making sense of what has happened whilst holding hope about how it could be different. Feeling lost, anxious & depressed are part of the human experience and this has definitely been amplified in recent times. But it can also feel better.
- I combine 30 years of professional experience with a down to earth, playful and approachable nature. You can expect to be greeted with warmth, a listening ear and a genuine interest in what makes you the unique and whole person you are. I am positive about working with you creatively at a soul level.

- Our first contact is a no obligation, 20 min telephone consultation and is free of charge.
- We can then decide together if a further assessment appointment will be helpful. We can look at your reasons for exploring therapy and get a better idea of how working together might feel.
- Your health and well being is my priority. My goal is to be supportive, honest and caring whilst providing gentle challenge where this may be beneficial to your wellbeing.

About me and my therapy practice
I have trained in CSTD Seven Eyed model with Robin Shohet & Joan Wilmot.
The model invites supervisees to metaphorically bring the client into the room and connect with them in the present in a felt sense. This enables us to really see your clients afresh and offers us some rich insights.
We might use role play, metaphors and reflect on the role of you as the therapist with your client for example. We can also bring into awareness any transference and counter-transference material.
Our shared goal is to reflect and deepen the noticing together to allow us to see more clearly and pay regard to the unconscious material in a felt sense.
We pay due attention to the field around you & your client eg culture, family, spiritual and political contexts.
Practice description
I am a therapist of over 20 years experience with an additional 10 years in a related helping profession. My work has been based in social care, education, charity and the private sector. I work online and from my home office in North Birmingham.
My offering is grounded in person centred, humanistic and psychodynamic theory. I also hold a spiritual practice which deepens the emotional hold in wisdom, purpose and a graceful curiosity.
You will be equally challenged and supported in your therapy work.
My first session
I offer 20 minute zoom meeting to ascertain our potential to work together. This time is free of charge.
We can also gather whether we can match in terms of diary availability.
