About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Kate. There are many reasons that lead a person to counselling. Your reasons will be as individual as you. Counselling provides a space where your individuality and experience will be received with respect and compassion.

I see counselling as a partnership where we work together to develop your understanding and self-awareness. I will not judge or tell you what to do. Instead, I will be there to support you in your exploration of what you bring.

My work is informed by counselling theories and ideas that fit closely with my own set of values and beliefs. This allows for a more integrative approach that means my skills and experience can be used to meet your needs.

I will invite you to become more aware of your own physical and emotional responses and may use mindfulness techniques. I will share knowledge about different counselling ideas appropriately and be clear about what I am offering and why – counselling does not need to feel mysterious.

I offer a free 30-minute face to face appointment in order for us to meet to discuss what you are looking for and how we may work together. 

Counselling sessions will then take place on a regular basis. I offer both short and long term counselling.

Qualifications & Experience

I have a professional diploma in therapeutic counselling and have been practising for over ten years. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework of working with clients.

I have worked within NHS mental health services and lectured at City of Bristol College within their counselling team. Alongside private practice I work for a Bristol charity that offers counselling to adult survivors of abuse.

My experience working with trauma and abuse has deepened through further training including the neuroscience of trauma and what happens to the body; how to reduce and manage trauma symptoms; and working with trauma memories.
