About me and my therapy practice
My name is Sally Elsen and I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I have a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from the university of Chichester, where my studies are ongoing with a BA hons degree in Humanistic Counselling. I retrained as a counsellor following a twenty five year teaching career. My teaching experience has given me qualifications and training for working directly with children. I have also worked with parents who have been managing a young persons emotional difficulties and challenging behaviour at home. I am fully insured and have an up to date DBS check. I have regular safeguarding training. As well as my private work I have a number of years experience working as a counsellor for a local charity and am undertaking further specialist training for working with 11-18 year olds. I also work with parents and carers of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities ( SEND).
I will work with you in a non-judgemental confidential space. I am not the expert and will not give advice or tell you what to do. We will work together to explore your thoughts and feelings by building a relationship of support and trust. I will not judge you and you will be accepted for who you are. You know what is best for you. In our sessions we will work together to better understand what has brought you to therapy and how you would like things to be different. I offer a talking therapy but am also open to working creatively using the arts. This can be helpful when working with younger clients. Counselling is time for you. The counselling sessions are 50 mins in length ( this can be adapted for younger clients if needed) and take place in in my purpose built garden counselling studio. I work with short term ( 6-12 sessions) and longer term sessions that may be open ended.
My first session
I offer a discounted fee of £20 for the first introductory session. In this session we will talk about what brings you and how you think counselling may help at this time. If you want to take some time after the initial introductory session to make your decision that is fine. At the start of counselling we will decide on the focus of the counselling work. We will also talk about how many sessions may be right for you and we will review this regularly.
Sessions are then charged at £40 per session and are paid a week in advance. This means that for the first session after the intro, you will pay £80 to cover the first and second session. Then £40 for each session there after.
