About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Kathryn – a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. We all face times in our life when things feel less than easy. Whatever your current experience, Counselling & Psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to ‘unpack’ what is happening for you with a qualified individual, held safely, and in confidence.
My approach
As an integrative practitioner I am trained in three main therapeutic approaches which allow me to adapt my way of working to accommodate each of my client’s individual needs:
• Person-centred therapy - supports increased understanding of who you are as an individual, and the values that you hold true to yourself, leading to greater insight and self-acceptance.
• Psychodynamic therapy - considers how experiences from your past may be affecting how you perceive the world and your relationships in the present day. If relevant, then our sessions can provide an opportunity to explore and uncover this.
• Cognitive-Behavioural therapy - focuses on your thought processes, and how these relate to subsequent feelings and behaviours. It may be that particular thinking patterns or habits are currently serving you as unhelpful, and in which case we can work together to reframe these.
I view the client-therapist relationship as the bedrock of our work together, and endeavour to provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space. Where helpful and appropriate, I may also share some psycho-education with you, in order to increase your insight and understanding of your experiences.
My qualifications
MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy – Roehampton University
Certificate of Higher Education in Counselling Skills & Theory – Kingston University
BSc Psychology – Cardiff University
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
