About me and my therapy practice
How you feel in counselling sessions is key to the success of your therapy. This is why it's vital that you feel comfortable as we confidentially explore the issues that you find difficult to talk about. From there we can start to explore these issues more deeply and what may be possible ways forward.
I’m a fully qualified and BACP registered counsellor. My approach is non-judgemental and empathic and caters to the individual needs of each client. I’ve worked with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic disorder, depression, relationship issues, stress, bereavement.
The counselling process
Through exploring your worries and underlying issues, you'll gain insight into your emotional reactions and behavioural patterns. You will build self-awareness and ways of coping to more effectively deal with the issues that have troubled you. This will also put you in a better position to have more say in what you do with your life and how to make the kind of changes you seek.
My humanistic approach is based on the belief that each person has the ability within them to not only change themselves but to change themselves in the way that is best for them. One aim of our therapy together therefore would be to help you reconnect with this vital aspect of yourself. This will make you more connected to your own needs and chosen responses - in the present and the future.
I’ve been trained in various therapeutic schools (an 'integrative' approach). This enables me to tailor the therapy to the specific needs of each client.
I work both short and longer-term with clients, depending on individual need. For longer-term work we aim to understand how your deeper past has psychologically affected your development. With this knowledge, we can help you adapt for the better in the present.
