About me and my therapy practice
My name is Theresa Bell and I am a Registered BACP Counsellor. Thank you for taking the time to read my information and to see how I will be able to help you.
We are all unique individuals but there are times in our life where we can be faced with challenges and difficulties. This is when it can help to talk to someone that you can share your troubles with knowing that you will not be judged, but supported. I can offer a confidential and safe space to discuss any issues or worries that you have. I fully understand how difficult the prospect of talking to someone about your problems can be.
As a BACP Registered Counsellor, I work within their Ethical Framework, ensuring clients receive the utmost safety and care. I work with young people and adults, providing a confidential and empathetic environment. I am a Person Centred counsellor where the person as a whole is important and not just the individual issue.
My background is in education, supporting students from Primary, Secondary through to College and University. I have worked with a diverse range of people while receiving specialist training working with students and adults with Autism, ADHD, Asperger's and challenging behaviour. I have created bespoke timetables (PBS - Positive Behavioural Support) for students that struggle to access normal mainstream school routines as well as helping adults to cope with everyday situations.
I also work with adults who are experiencing lots of stress from very busy and demanding workplaces, issues with family, relationships and friendship breakdowns and life changing decisions. All of these factors can have an impact on the quality of everyday life.
I have previously worked as the Mental Health Lead (SEMH and SEND) in a large Secondary school, counselling students with many issues including friendships, peer pressure, exam pressure and issues beyond school as well as implementing PBS plans.
I have also previously volunteered as a counsellor for On Track Youth Counselling Services, working with young people aged 14-19 years and with Willows, a counselling agency for adults, as well as having experience working in a Specialist Autistic (SRP) unit supporting children from age 11 to 16.
My current role is the Counselling Coordinator of the Self-Harmony Counselling Service for the charity Mind, where I manage the counselling team, working with all forms of self-harm and self-injury for Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind.
If you would like to contact me, please fill in your details on the contact page and I will respond to you as soon as I can.
