About me and my therapy practice

I aspire to promote wellbeing by offering professional counselling to adults in Mid Ulster and the surrounding areas. I am flexible to individual needs and endeavour to find a solution to those needs.

Counselling offers an opportunity for you to think and talk in confidence about YOUR difficulties, experiences, feelings, fears, anxieties; anything that might be concerning you.

My values include: Integrity; Respect; Valuing the Individual; Professional and Ethical Practice.

Practice description

My approach is pluralistic with a leaning towards the person-centred approach, borrowing tools from psychodynamic, CBT & ACT fields.

My approach to counselling is relational and rests on the belief that people have the potential to change when they are offered an environment characterised by empathy, acceptance and genuineness. When you and your therapist work together toward the same therapeutic goals, using an approach that suits you, the outlook is always better.

I am committed to facilitating people to experience a sense of belonging, of being understood and of having a voice. I am also committed to open, honest and respectful communication with each other at all levels.

I am comfortable working with the spiritual dimension of life and can offer the opportunity to explore issues from the perspective of Christianity for those who specifically request it.

My first session

I am happy to arrange a call or brief Zoom meeting to discuss your therapy goals and offer more information. This also helps us to  find out if we would work well together.

The initial session normally involves completion of an assessment which provides some background and possibly focus for our work together.

Being very aware of the level of need for new counsellors at the moment, I am more than happy to support counselling students. I have a flat rate fee for student therapy of £30/session. This can be contracted for the full required therapy hours or parts thereof.
